CORDS, with generous support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, is implementing a research programme in partnership with the South East Europe Network, SECID and the Middle East Network, MECIDS. The programme aims to strengthen surveillnace, diagnosis and treatment of Leishmaniasis in Syrian and Afghani refugees in Jordan, Albania and Pakistan.
The programme is led by SECID and aims to:
- Identify Leishmaniasis challenges in diagnosis, care, and treatment during war, migration and refugee crisis.
- Establish a data repository for relevant health data.
Clinical data will be collected by national experts in each country and will be analysed to enable endemic zones to be mapped and incidence rates calculated.
